200 h Yoga Teacher Training

Overview

This 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Hot Yoga Østerbro is more than just a certification—it’s a deep dive into the heart of yoga, self-awareness, and the foundation of skilful teaching. Designed for students who are ready to evolve their practice and perhaps take the first step into teaching, this training blends ancient wisdom with contemporary tools in a grounded, supportive, and inclusive environment.

Over the course of five weekends in Copenhagen and a final immersive retreat in the nature of Northern Sjælland, you’ll be guided through the core pillars of yoga: breath, movement, meditation, philosophy, anatomy, and the art of teaching. Through thoughtful lectures, conscious dialogue, and hands-on experience, you’ll not only learn how to teach—but why ou teach, and what your unique voice and presence bring to the practice.

Our curriculum is designed to be both rigorous and reflective. We explore yoga’s roots in South Asian traditions with care and respect, while also confronting what it means to be a yoga teacher today—in a modern, multicultural world. You’ll leave this training with a clearer sense of who you are as a practitioner, as a teacher, and as a human navigating a complex and beautiful path.

Whether your goal is to teach professionally, or simply to enrich your understanding of yoga as a life practice, this training offers a space to connect deeply—with your body, your breath, your voice, and a like-minded community. You’ll be held, challenged, supported, and encouraged to grow in ways that reach far beyond the mat.

By the end of the program, you will be certified to teach yoga (RYT-200), equipped with the tools to lead classes with skill and authenticity, and grounded in a lineage of practice that honors both tradition and evolution.

The Practice

Each day begins with a practice combining meditation, pranayama and asana. Expect breath-centered movement, space for stillness, and practices designed to help you refine awareness of your body, breath, and mind. You’ll develop a steady and informed self-practice while learning to hold space for your self with presence and clarity.

The Philosophy

You’ll explore the ancient roots of yoga with a focus on its relevance in modern life. Dive into the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the yamas and niyamas, and yoga’s historical context. We’ll discuss what it means to live and teach ethically, how to navigate cultural respect, and how yoga philosophy can support a conscious life off the mat.

The Anatomy

You will learn an accessible and inclusive approach to anatomy and physiology that will help you understand how yoga impacts the body. You’ll explore the musculoskeletal system, functional movement, injury prevention, and body diversity, and how to apply this knowledge in a practical and empowering way.

The Teaching

From sequencing to cueing, from voice to presence—you’ll learn what it means to guide a safe, effective, and heartfelt class. You’ll explore verbal cues, hands-on adjustments, the role of music, theme integration, and the teacher’s responsibility. Space-holding and ethics are emphasized throughout.

The Practicum

This is where it all comes together. In the final retreat, you’ll be invited to teach a full 60-minute class and complete a written exam. Throughout the training, you’ll have many chances to practice teaching in small groups, gaining confidence and supportive feedback every steps of the way.
